"The Pace in the Head of the River was "a cracker" with Terrace and Grammar going at it from the start. Terrace took an early lead but during the middle part of the race Grammar fought back to be on level pegging. With 600 metres to go cox, Michael Toon used his special calls from the Nationals "Queenslander, Queenslander" and the crew, stroked brilliantly by Nick Crimmins was able to find a little more and pull away over the last 350 metres to win by a length. Grammar was a tough and gallant crew showing true sportsmanship in defeat. But this really was a great win and no crew has worked harder than [Gregory Terrace]. Their dedication to their sport was outstanding."
