The Race Described:
"In the 1st VIII race, [the Churchie] crew, which was favoured because of previous State selection and pre-Head form, won only after putting down a strong challenge from BGS and BBC. At the 1500m mark CEGS and BGS were neck and neck, but in the final stages the School managed to gain a convincing lead of 3.6 secs, just over a length from BGS with BBC close by third."

The 1975 Church of England Grammar Crew represented Queensland in the Noel F. Wilkinson Youth Eight Trophy, which in this year was a two boat race against Geelong College who represented Victoria.
In 1983, The Church of England Grammar School celebrated Graham Jones, the man who is regarded as the School's most successful rowing coach with three wins in six years, by naming a boat in his honour.
