1999 APS Head of the River

There was great excitement with the win by Xavier College in the boy's Head of the River, the first win since 1948. To add to their excitement, the school was also successful in the second and year 10 A divisions.

Also disrupting usual proceedings was Geelong College pushing Geelong Grammar to second place in the girl's Head of the River.

New races were introduced this year with both year 10A and Year 10 B races for both boys and girls, and also a second girl's eight. The boy's fifth eight and the girls third and fourth fours disappeared to make way for the new inclusions. The girl's open fifth fours continued despite there being no first, second, third or fourth fours.

Whilst not covered in the program nor in these results, year 9 races and a boy's year 10 division 3 eights race were conducted on Saturday over 1000m.
