1987 South Australian Schools' Head of the River

In 1987, the Under 14 Girls Four was raced for the first time. 1987 also saw Wilderness School make its debut at the SA Head of the River.

The 1987 SA Head of the River featured the following events:

- Boys & Girls Under 15 Four

- Boys & Girls Under 14 Four

Unley High School crews performed excellently at the 1987 SA Head of the River claiming victory in both premier races; the Boys First Eight and Girls First Four. It was Unley High's first ever win in the Boys First Eight in which they first entered the race in 1978.

In addition, Unley High School had a dominated Girls regatta with 5 wins from 6 starts. This included the Girls First Four which saw Wilderness School, in their debut, finish 2nd.
