The 1974 SA Head of the River featured the following events:

- Second Eight

- Open Four

- Open Lightweight Four

- Under 16 Four

- Under 15 Four

- Under 14 Four


St. Peter's College made it 3 wins in-a-row for the Gosse Shield. St. Peter's also won the Lightweight, Under 16 and Under 15 Four. Meanwhile, Pulteney Grammar won the Second Eight and Under 14 Four and the newly named Pembroke School won the Open Four.
