2024 World Under 19 Championships – St Catharines CAN
The World Under 19 Championships were conducted in August 2024 finishing on the weekend of 24th and 25th.
It is a combined regatta with the non-Olympic senior events and the Under 23 World Championships.
Following selections, Rowing Australia reported as follows: Jason Lane, Head of Pathways at Rowing Australia, said the Under 19's represented the best of our young rowing talent and were ready to test themselves against the best in the world. “The recent Under 19 selection trials has highlighted the future talent for the 2032 Olympics. After several days of hard racing male and female athletes have been selected in both sweep and sculling categories, highlighting the future potential in all the Olympic categories,” Lane said.
Following the regatta, Jason Lane added that the collective results of the Under 23 and Under 19 crews showed the talent pipeline for Australian flat-water rowing was highly encouraging. To win seven medals across both teams is an outstanding achievement and is a testament to the hard work the athletes and coaching team put in over the last few months.
Australia finished the regatta with one gold and one bronze medal with all but one crew making the final.

Rowing Australia reported after the regatta that the Sydney-based coxed four was made up of arch-rival schools St. Ignatius College (Riverview) and St. Joseph’s College and rowed a dominant race taking an early lead, before separating from the pack to cross the line first in a time of 6:39.36. Samuel Basha, twins Matias and Tomas Maloney, Ambrose Hennessy and Henry Burton (cox) couldn’t have pulled together a better performance. Crew members noted that the two schools are right next to each other. We’re big rivals and we came together for this Four. We got to train at one shed together and it was an amazing experience.
