1989 Australian University Championships— National Water Sports Centre Carrum VIC
These Championships were conducted on 7- 8th July 1989 at the new course at Carrum Victoria. The conditions on the finals day were bad with gusty cross winds which made starting and rowing very difficult.
Melbourne University again won the Centenary Cup easily with 132 points, followed by Queensland 58 points, LaTrobe 32 points, Monash 29 points, Adelaide 20 points, Sydney 19 points, ADFA 8, UNSW 5 and Macquarie 0.
Sprint races were conducted on 5th July.
