2023 World Championships - Belgrade, Serbia
The Senior Championships once again became the primary qualification regatta for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
As usual, the initial Australian selection process took place in March at the Sydney International Regatta Centre and a squad named to compete at the World Cup regattas. As with most pre Olympic years, the squad was large to provide the best opportunities to qualify boats for the Games.
The tour for this year includes a long stay in Europe for the men rather than returning for a training block in Canberra before going to the World Championships. The women returned to the more temperate Penrith winter.
The Australian team results were less than expected but still produced a gold in the PR3 mixed double, silver in the women's pair, and bronze medals in the two eights.
