1969 SATIS Head of the River

Thursday, April 3 - Tamar River

First Eight:

Hutchins School regained the Golden Fleece Cup from two years earlier, winning by 3 lengths over Launceston Church Grammar. The Friends' School took out third place.

The Savio School raced for the first time in the First VIIIs and finished a creditable fifth. Scotch College did not boat a first VIII due to a lack of senior rowers and concentrated on the fours.

This race was not without controversy. The race was stopped after about 500mwith the Friends School crew disqualified for leaving it's lane and faouling another crew. The crew protested but it was dismissed.
