2024 World Under 23 Championships— St Catherines, Canada

The World Under 23 Championships will be conducted in conjunction with the non-Olympic senior categories and World Under 19 Championships at St Catherines finishing on the weekend of 24th and 25th August 2024.

On 24th June 2024, Rowing Australia reported on the US selections as follows:

The Under 23 Men’s and Women’s Eights have been confirmed for the upcoming Under 23 World Championships, completing the full lineup of crews set to compete in St. Catherines, Canada, from August 18-23.

This marks the first time Australia has entered two Eights selected from the US College program. These athletes are currently training in Princeton and will depart for Australia this weekend.

After a week at home, both crews will commence training in Canberra at the Reinhold Batschi Men's National Training Centre from Monday, July 8.

They will then head back to Princeton on July 30 for a two-week training camp with the rest of the U23 Squad before traveling to St. Catherines.

“It was pleasing to see 24 of our US-based athletes and four coxswains come together on a training camp and selection trials at Princeton University,” Head of Pathways Jason Lane said.

“After completing ergometer testing and on-water trials I am excited by the talent that was present and delighted to be able to select a Men’s and Women’s Eight to represent Australia at the U23 World championships in August.”

In a notable highlight, Ben Scott and Drew Weightman will be rowing together in the Men's Eight.

Their fathers, Rob Scott OLY (former RA President) and Dave Weightman OLY, famously rowed the Pair together, winning a Silver Medal at the Atlanta 1996 Olympics.
