Trans Tasman Regattas– 1972 NSW Colts Tour of NZL
This page is under construction - Background
Following the successful NZL Colts tour of NSW in 1971, the NSW Rowing Association sent a Colts eight and pair to NZL to race primarily at the Wanganui Rowing Association Jury Cup Regatta. Their main opposition was a Waikato crew containing many Olympic team members. The eight also raced at Wellington at another regatta.

Wanganui Regatta
Eight
1st NSWRA, 2nd Waikato No. 1
The race started off well for the visitors with NSW leading from the start and gaining a good lead. Sadly the Waikato crew then suffered a broken rudder which meant their best could not be seen. Stroke of the NSW Chris Shinners said that their race was "a corker of a race" leaving no chance of being beaten, even by the highly fancied opposition.
Pair
Whilst entered, the pair never got to race at either regatta, at least Dave Roberts got a pow in the eight for the Wellington regatta.
