2024 Under 21 Trans Tasman Regattas

Rowing Australia reported on 30th April 2024:

Australia's Under 21 rowing team has been officially selected for participation in the upcoming Annual Trans-Tasman Regatta, which will be held at the Sydney International Regatta Centre.

The event is scheduled for the first weekend in June, where the team will compete against their counterparts from New Zealand for the Rusty Robertson Trophy.

Australia will look to show similar performances to last year as the 2023 team completed a clean sweep, winning every race contested in Lake Karapiro.

The regatta serves as an important platform for young athletes to gain valuable international racing experience.

The event was in fact conducted on Lake Burley Griffin over 1800m and resulted in another win by Australia. The final point score was:

Australia 134 – New Zealand 104.

The host crews continued their winning streak by dominating the Men’s and Women’s Coxed Eight events over on Sunday morning.

“I would like to congratulate both the Australian and New Zealand teams for the quality of racing and spirit in which the competition was held,” Rowing Australia Head of Pathways Jason Lane said.

“It was a fantastic achievement from all athletes and coaches to win every final. It was also pleasing to see the way the crews raced, displaying great resilience and determination to answer the challenges that came their way.”
