H A Williams

Melbourne Rowing Club (VIC)

Thomas Colles wrote an essay on rowing in Victoria in 1860s which was included in John Lang's book The Victorian Oarsman and which included the following insights into Williams.

The stroke oar of the Melbourne Rowing Club. A man who loved the exercise, and stuck to it till he was early fifty. I think he held on to racing too long to the detriment of his health, but he was a very determined oarsman, and was always ready to row himself to exhaustion.
