William Waterfield

Bill Waterfield was the administrative backbone of Rowing Victoria for decades.

1967-70 - Hon Ass Secretary of RV
1971-84 - Hon Secretary of RV
1984 - Life Member of RV
1986-96 - Secretary of RV
1997 - Hon Secretary of RV
In his spare time he was Hon Secretary of the Umpires Panel.

Bill's whole life revolved around the sport and his contribution was respected and welcomed. His work was throrough and accurate - the annual reports during the period of his time as secretary display this well.

The idea for this history originated from the Olympic Rowing and World Senior Rowing Championship histories written by Andrew Guerin and Margot Foster in 1991, 1992 & 1993 for the Australian team handbooks. Andrew Guerin developed and extended these histories to the current format in 2004 for publication in 2004 and then expanded the site.

Steve Roll has been an invaluable contributor to the website in locating errors and finding Christian names of rowers. His superb work is acknowledged.
