Rowing Australia’s profile of Alex extracted on the 10th November 2020 advised:

Alex Vuillermin made her debut in the Australian Rowing Team in 2018 after a late call up to replace the injured Kate Murdoch for the 2018 World Rowing Championships.

Alex began rowing, in early 2017, after being approached by Rowing Australia to take part in its #Train4Tokyo program. She travelled to Canberra to train with a variety of PR3 rowers for a camp and then joined Bairnsdale Rowing Club to begin her rowing journey.

In 2018, Alex moved to Melbourne for university and joined Power House Rowing Club, where she is coached by Olympian Hannah Every-Hall. She once again travelled Canberra for another #Train4Tokyo camp and at the conclusion of it raced at the 2018 Head of the Yarra in a PR3 Mixed Eight. The Gippsland-born rower's impairment is EEC Syndrome, she has three fingers (in total) and four toes (in total). Outside of rowing, Alex is at the Australian Catholic University, studying nursing and when not studying or rowing, she enjoys spending time at the beach! If Alex had to choose a favourite song to listen to before racing, she chooses the iconic ACDC tune 'Highway to Hell'.

In 2020, after Hannah Every Hall left Power House for her new role at Modern Pentathlon Australia as the Pathways and High Performance Manager, and the opportunity to row with able bodied rowers at Mercantile arose, both she and Al Viney joined Mercantile. Fortunately Hannah has been able to continue to assist Alex at Mercantile so Alex is having the best of both worlds, training in a high performance program at Mercs with able bodies rowers and receiving Hannah's guidance.

Clearly Alex is aiming for the Paralympic Games.
