Sarah Tisdall
University of Queensland Boat Club (QLD)
Sarah commenced her rowing at Brisbane Girls Grammar School finishing in the six seat of the school's first eight at the BSRA Head of the River.
The next racing was in Australia with the University of Queensland Boat Club prior to heading overseas to study at Harvard University in 2016.
Sarah was fortunate to successfully combine her studies and rowing at Harvard and was heading for a great season in 2019-20 before COVID caused the cancellation of most of the season. However before that occurred, she took the opportunity in 2019 to race in the Australian under 23 team in the coxed four at the World Under 23 Championships at Sarasota, Florida. She won a bronze medal.
On the Podium at the World Under 23 Championships in 2019
Not deterred by this pandemic setback, Sarah pursued her studies at Cambridge University with a Master of Philosophy in Education: Globalisation and International Development, and also rowed successfully. She was fortunate to race in the Cambridge blue boat which defeated Oxford in The Boat Race of 2021. This was the COVID impacted race conducted on the Great Ouse instead of the Thames with no audiences allowed.
