Michael Smith

Drummoyne Rowing Club (NSW) and Sydney Rowing Club (NSW)

Michael is a lifetime rower enjoying the sport from all angles - from an elite lightweight rower, to team manager, selector, coach and administrator.

The journey started as a rower in 1975 and it took until 1995 before his rowing career ended. During that time he was very successful.

His attention then turned to team management for both NSW and Australia.

One of his remarkable achievements was to be a NSW Selector for 20 years.

Then of course is his long and illustrious school coaching career.

2011 – After coaching Sydney Grammar School to win the 1st VIII at the AAGPS Head of the River for the first time since 1978.
