Jack Scott
Haberfield Rowing Club (NSW)
Jack Scott was a champion sculler of the early years of the Haberfield Rowing Club which commenced in 1925.
He first came to notice when he raced in the bow seat of Haberfield's first eight oared crew on 2nd October 1926 at the Mosman Regatta.
Obviously preferring two oars rather than one, he became a sculler. By October 1929, he won Haberfield's first Interstate victory with a win in the Silver Sculls at the Australian Henley Regatta.
Then in May 1930, the pinnacle of his career, winning the Interstate Sculling Championship at Mannum South Australia.
This was a rapid rise from maiden eights in 1926 to the best sculler in Australia four years later.
