Charles McDonell

Albert Park Rowing Club (VIC)

Died June 1922

A highly respected and long serving member of his club, a successful oarsman and honorary secretary of the Victorian Rowing Association. An important contribution was made to the sport.

His obituary in the 1921-2 Victorian Rowing Association annual report stated:

Mr. Charles McDonell was for 30 years a highly respected member of the Albert Park C1ub, which he successfully represented in many senior and champion races. He was Secretary of your Association from 1902 to 1904, and proved himself to be a most obliging and tighly efficient officer. For many years he retained a seat on the Committee, but eventually had to resign owing to ill-health. He passed away in June last, and to his widow and children our sincere sympathy is expressed.
