Neil McCallum

Died: 15th September 1962

The following obituary appeared in the Sydney Rowing Club annual report of 1962-63.

Neil joined the Club as a Coxswain in the 1949 season establishing a fine record of successes from 1950 to 1956.

He transferred to active membership and, though only very light, won several lightweight races. He then confined his efforts to Coaching; showed great promise coaching and winning with some fine crews, and appeared assured of a brilliant coaching career.

In the tragic loss of Neil McCallum the Club, and rowing generally, will be denied the endeavours of a younger member to return to the sport much of the knowledge he had gained.
