George A (Alec) Mansfield

Joined 1951/52 and passed away in the 2004/05 season.

1947 - Sale regatta, novice four (coach)

George had a long association with University High school as a coach, they at the time rowed out of the Yarra shed.

From the 2004/05 Yarra Yarra Rowing Club annual report:-

We regret to advise of the passing of Alex Mansfield in June 2005.

From the mid 1950’s Alex coached University High School who rowed out of YYRC during that time.

Alex actively encouraged University High School students to join YYRC that resulted in many joining. Most notable amongst these are life members Jimmy Wilson and club historian Peter Gill.

Andrew Guerin developed and extended these histories to the current format in 2004 for publication in 2004 and then expanded the site.
