Vale Maurie Kane, 1931---2023

Maurie Kane was a member of Yarra Yarra from the 1987/88 season until the 1993/94 season, He was born on the 7th of August 1931, and passed away on the 23rd of January this year, he was 91.

Maurie was originally a member of Richmond and most of his rowing experience and competitive years was spent with that club, He was a fireman by trade, and kept himself fit. He joined Yarra in later life to compete in masters events and socialise with the older gents of the club, (most of whom are now departed, including past president & patron, Ted Woolcock, and past captain Ron Mitchell).

The idea for this history originated from the Olympic Rowing and World Senior Rowing Championship histories written by Andrew Guerin and Margot Foster in 1991, 1992 & 1993 for the Australian team handbooks. Andrew Guerin developed and extended these histories to the current format in 2004 for publication in 2004 and then expanded the site.
