James Thomas Andrew Hume, born 30/6/1931 passed away 19/5/1998. He was a regular walker and fitness person and passed away hiking across Scotland.

1956 - Victorian Championship, lightweight four (2)

1957 - Colac regatta, lightweight pair (stroke)

1957 - Yea regatta, lightweight four (stroke)

1957 - Barwon regatta, lightweight eight (6)

1957 - Henley regatta, lightweight eight (6)

1957 - Winter sculling, 5 mile handicap scull

1960 - Yea regatta, junior four (stroke)

1961 - Scotch Mercantile regatta, junior eight (stroke) 

One of his proudest achievements was that he introduced three members to the club who later on achieved life membership Jim Wilson, Ron Mitchell, Jim Skidmore.

Jim Hume 30/6/1931 to 19/5/1998

Jim was a successful rower and sculler with Yarra Yarra from the late 1940’s to the mid 1960’s. In between Jim saw active service in the Korean was. He was enthusiast about Yarra Yarra and was responsible for introducing both Jim Skidmore and Ron Mitchell to the club. Jim was a strong advocate of weight training and organised the clubs first weight purchases. The money donated by a few of the club’s stalwarts after stiring speeches by Geoff Harding and Harry Trebilcock. He was a committee member for some years and served as the clubs vice-captain from 1957-59. Jim was also the club’s auditor for a long period.

Jim passed away whilst on a walking holiday in Scotland. He is survived by his children and grandchildren.
