Richard George Watherson Hills, know as Richie, was the coxswain of the 1989 Scotch College first eight.
He did not continue his rowing after school but did continue his other successful school sport, hockey.
Richie qualified as a chemical engineer and working in mining before moving into corporate finance. He was married with young children when he died at the age of only 49 from cancer.
