Bette Harding

Yarra Yarra Rowing Club (VIC)

14 May 1929 to 12 Oct 2019

Bette was wife of fellow member R Geoff Harding, and daughter in law of fellow member Reg Harding.

Member 1996/97---2019/20 and passed away 12/10/2019

Hon Life member 1996/97------2019/20

Bette was an active member of the ladies social committee in the 1950’s.

Later after his passing she donated moneys to Yarra through her husband’s firm, where she was a director. She was also a generous support of the Australian Henley regatta and regularly attended the regatta and presented trophies.

Bette was a strong supporter of both Yarra Yarra and the sport of rowing.

She was also a superb individual, strong, astute and feminine, someone to whom it was a pleasure to meet and converse.

Bette Harding

We also congratulate Bette on being elected an honorary life member of Yarra Yarra and for christening the new racing pair, Bette Harding.

Bette was a member of the club in the 1950’s and has always supported the club. Her late husband Geoff was a rower, captain, committee member, president and supporter and a ‘hands on’ person, but that’s another story.

Bette is a director of Plexipave of William Loud (Aust) Pty Ltd, which was our first sponsor of the Yarra Yarra regatta. Bette always liked to have fun, and she still does, and by some of her remanences of the past proves that things have not changed.

We thank you Bette.
