William H Gunn

Jeparit Rowing Club (VIC)

William Henry Gunn enlisted in WWI and unlike his younger brother, survived. After the war, he lived in the UK and served as a warden in WWII. He married an English woman, Marjorie Elizabeth Clarke on 29th November 1918 whilst serving in the UK.

William enlisted on 12th September 1914 at the age of 24 years, service number 867 and with an occupation of painter. He was not a tall person being only 5 foot 4 inches tall.

He served in Egypt, Greece and France and in late in 1915, he suffered appendicitis. From September 1916, he appears to have served solely in the UK in the motor transport services. He was discharged in 1919.
