James W Ferry

Antwerp Rowing Club (Vic)

James William Ferry was born at Katyl, Victoria in about 1884.

He enlisted in WWI on 18th March 1916 as a 32 year old widower and railway employee.  He joined the 10th Machine Gun Company with a service number 53.

Whilst overseas, he did not leave England and so did not serve in a theatre of war. After a series of illnesses, he was assessed as ineffective on 27th March 1917. Ferry returned to Australia on 27th August 1917.
