From the Yarra Yarra Rowing Club newsletter 'Yarra Yabbie' 19 Sept 2021:-

Stuart joined YYRC in the1987/88 season, along with Ed Kinch. He’s contributed both his knowledge and expertise to the running of the club and held a number of committee positions over the years:

During his time as president, Stuart was able to advocate positive outcomes for Yarra Yarra and other Melbourne rowing clubs at various rowing and council forums.

Stu has represented the club at many local, national and international events, with many successes. Including representing YYRC at a number of World Masters games with Jack in the double.

In his acceptance speech, Stu said he loves what YYRC represents, community. It’s a club that welcomes anyone, regardless of background. He’s made a lot of friends, met a lot of great people. And wanted to thank those who had rowed with him over the years.

He’s enjoyed his time on committee, and always tried to put back into YYRC. But funnily enough, he’s always gotten more out than what he’s put in.

Most importantly, Stuart is looking forward to getting back to the club for a row and a beer.
