Jack was also a generous rowing and sculling coach at Grafton where he assisted many budding oarsmen.

His son Colin was a successful rower for Haberfield who raced for NSW in the King's Cup in 1946 at Penrith and again in 1947 in Perth. Colin won 45 races for Haberfield Rowing Club and was a highly revered rower in NSW.
