1873 - Men's Intercolonial Four Championship, NSW coach - Third

Alan May in his Sydney Rowing Club history noted of the 1872 contest: Coach of the crew was James Cand­lish, a former English sculler who was beaten by Dick Green in 1858 in the first ever race on the Parramatta River championship course (for stakes of £400).
