Norman R Campbell

South Melbourne Rowing Club (VIC) now Albert Park South Melbourne Rowing Club (VIC)

Norman Reece Campbell was a South Melbourne Rowing Club coxswain who also served in WWI.

The only recorded wins prior to WWI were:

1913 - Sale Regatta, Lightweight Maiden Four, cox - First

1913 - Bairnsdale Regatta, Lightweight Maiden Four, cox - First

He enlisted in February 1915, just before his 21st birthday. He was single whose occupation was shown as a collector. He had kept his weight low still coming in at 8 stone.

Norman suffered from tachycardia and asthma whilst in the military.

In 1918, Norman was wounded with a severe gun shot wound to the right knee. He was returned to Australia and no doubt suffered from that injury for the rest of his life.
