Victor Anderson

Brisbane Rowing Club (QLD)

Victor was a prominent cox and coach in Brisbane in the mid to late 1920s.

His first big success was in the Head of the River in Brisbane in 1925 where he coxed the winning Brisbane State High School crew to victory. The close race was won by a mere two feet and it was reported that their win could largely be attributed to the straight course steered by Victor. It was High School's maiden O'Connor Cup victory.

He coxed the school crew again in 1926 but without the same level of success.

Following his school years, he coxed and coached for Brisbane Rowing Club for a number of years. Whilst his rowing record is not clear, we have ascertained that he coxed the winning Brisbane Rowing Club Champion Four in 1928.
