1983 First Trans Tasman Under 23 Regattas– New Zealand
This series was for representative Australian and New Zealand crews.
The format followed for 1983 was a four test series in four different locations in New Zealand over three weeks. The first test was at Karapiro, the second on the Wanganui River, the third on the Oreti River in Invercargill and the final test on Lake Forsyth Christchurch.
The New Zealand women's and lightweight teams needed some open rowers. The crews broke down into other boat classes. The result was an overwhelming victory for the Australian team winning 38 of the 52 events. See Results below.
